You may have used the Whole Life Challenge app for Android or iOS in the past, but we've made a big change! Instead of having three different user experiences (Android, iOS, and Web), we now have one across all platforms! What we now offer is actually also an app - called a Progressive Web App or PWA. This app, though, simply runs in any browser instead of requiring a special operating system of its own.
The PWA can be added to your phone just like a mobile app. The reason that we did it is it makes us more efficient at delivering updates and new feature to all of the customers.
When we had the native apps it required us to build all new features three times - once one the site, once for iPhone, and once for Android - before we could deliver anything to players.
The progressive web app is a new technology that allows us to use a single platform for desktop and mobile and continue to have an app experience without having to maintain three platforms. It makes the quality of the technology higher, more consistent, and easier to maintain. The bottom line is that it allows us to deliver a more consistent customer experience.

In case you're curious, we're not alone in using PWA technology to improve user experience. In fact, you've probably used dozens of PWAs already without even knowing it. A quick Google search will show that, among hundreds of others, these "web sites" are, in fact, Progressive Web Apps, too!
